The Federation, in conjunction with the Decade  of Behavior, hosted a congressional briefing on Monday, May 10.  The briefing  featured Dr. David Dinges, one of this year's winners of the Decade of Behavior  Research Award and a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.  Dr.  Dinges, one of the nation's leading sleep research authorities, discussed his  research on the effects of chronic sleep deprivation on the brain's ability to  sustain acceptable levels of attention and alertness and on the body's ability  to fight off infection and disease.
