On October 15th, the Federation, in conjunction with member  organization the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES),  hosted a Science Forum on Human Factors and Patient Safety Research.  The  day's talks addressed the current status and future progress of human factors  and ergonomics research in the patient safety arena.

The first half of the event was dedicated to researchers  discussing their work on different types of patients care (home care,  transportation/emergency care, and clinical care), and the second half of the  day focused on agencies and groups that are responsible for issuing patient  safety guidance and/or funding patient safety research. The day concluded with a  group discussion of where human factors and ergonomics researchers need to  concentrate their future efforts in order to achieve far-reaching goals.
